I helped out with the Music Under New York auditions again this year, held annually in Grand Central Terminal. I love this day and look forward to it each year. Lars Hoel of NPR grabbed me for a short interview, featured at the end of the story:
I've been invited to appear as a panelist for the CMJ Music Marathon this year. The panel is called MUNY: Stories from an Underground Culture and will be held at NYU's Kimmel Center on October 20th. I think it's appropriate and good that CMJ is acknowledging street / subway performance as an alternative outlet for new music. At least that's what I'll be talking about.
AMITY ROSE plays Boston - September 25, 2009
My first Amity Rose show in Boston was tonight, hosted by friend Uncle Shoe at the very beautiful and atmospheric Library at the Church of the Advent in the Back Bay. Perfect natural acoustics and a grandfather clock on stage!
AMITY ROSE plays LINCOLN SQUARE - July 1, 2009
I had a wonderful time today as AMITY ROSE playing on an "American Roots" bill as part of an outdoor concert series held at Richard Tucker Park in Lincoln Square (across from Lincoln Center). My dear friend Jane Pejtersen (Calamity Jane) made a special appearance with me, marking our debut singing together! Sean Grissom, the Cajun Cellist and the Ebony Hillbillies were also in the lineup. The rain held out for a beautiful day of outdoor music.

Concert reading of ABOVE HELL's KITCHEN at Joe's Pub - April 3, 2009
Last night at Joe's Pub, I played Ethel Troutzeigler in ABOVE HELL's KITCHEN by Spottiswoode and His Enemies, based loosely on Don Giovanni.
It was a legendary night. Thanks to all who came out.
The Joe's Pub archivist, Michael Arthur, was there to sketch his impressions. I'm the third drawing down, with the glasses. Click here to view:
Staged reading of TOKIO CONFIDENTIAL - March 9, 2009

Dig Out Your Soul in the Streets is released: DAGMAR w/OASIS - January 14, 2009
Dagmar goes down in Oasis history! The Malloy Brothers' documentary has been released. It is a stylish black & white 18 minute love letter to street musicians and NYC, and you'll see that, despite his bad boy reputation, Liam Gallagher is actually a thoughtful, nice person, as are Gem Archer (guitar) and Andy Bell (bass). See it here:
Reading of THE HEALER @ The Drilling Company - January 6, 2009

I'll be reading the title role in LYRA by Stephen Bittrich in a first reading at The Drilling Company tonight!
On a remote island in the Aegean Sea, Lyra is a siren who lures men to their deaths on its jagged shores. Talk about a killer voice!

Sundance favorite - January 28, 2007
Just got back from a week in Utah, doing some skiing and seeing flick-skies at Sundance. I was happy to hear that my favorite, THE POOL, by Milwaukee-based Chris Smith, won a special Jury Prize. This simple eloquent film is a mind-blowing achievement, especially considering that it was adapted from an American short story, set in India and filmed in Hindi with 2 non-actor boys as the leads, whose first language was not Hindi. Chris spent 5 months over there doing research and HE doesn't speak Hindi, but worked very closely with a translator, who was also in the film. Singularity of Vision, indeed. Wow.
